Fertility Network UK is holding an event on 20 November at 5pm, to introduce the Fertility in the Workplace initiative and focus on ‘The business case for employer action’.The aim of the event is to make employers and employees aware of the initiative, as well as our patient-centric focus. One in six people of working age have difficulties conceiving. However, individuals rarely discuss their fertility challenges with their employer over fears it will damage their career prospects.Research on behalf of Fertility Network UK revealed that 35% of respondents said that fertility treatment impacted their careers, 58% said work affected their treatment, while 6% left their jobs.At the event, different perspectives will be shared by a panel, and this will be followed by informal networking. The event is aimed at everyone with an interest in practical ideas for developing improved workplace support for those experiencing fertility challenges.Find out more here: moredetails.uk/3YaP31P

Today is World Menopause Day – an opportunity to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. The theme this year is Menopause Hormone Therapy, known in the UK as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT replaces oestrogen and progesterone – hormones that fall to low levels as you approach the menopause.Although associated with women in their 50s, the symptoms of peri-menopause can start as early as 40 years of age, or younger.Premature menopause is often inherited, so by making women aware of the risk of premature menopause they can be empowered to make decisions, such as freezing their eggs, starting a family sooner, or considering the option to use donor eggs in fertility treatment.Find out more here: moredetails.uk/3S4PEk7

Pregnancy loss can happen for many reasons. Baby Loss Awareness Week shines a light on the impact of pregnancy and baby loss on people’s lives.Zoe and Adam lost their first baby following a natural conception. After having fertility tests, it was found that an underlying medical condition meant the couple’s chances of conceiving again naturally were very slim, so they would need IVF treatment. When Zoe fell pregnant again after her treatment, she said she felt unable to fully relax until their baby, Isabella, was born in August 2023.“I felt completely terrified at the thought of being pregnant again. It was so scary; I wasn’t sure if I could go through it a second time”, says Zoe.Even though it may never happen again, couples often want to know the reasons for their loss. Our specialist miscarriage clinic aims to provide some answers to their questions, and recommendations where appropriate.Read Zoe and Adam’s full story here: moredetails.uk/4gXoTYS
