Integrated Care Boards
Your GP surgery is part of an Integrated care board (ICG). Each determines its own eligibility criteria and the number of IVF cycles that it will fund via the NHS.
Integrated care boards (ICBs) replaced clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in the NHS in England from 1 July 2022. Some ICBs in the East of England and East Midlands do not fund any IVF treatment and others offer from one, two or three cycles, depending on which GP practice you are registered with.
A full list of the ICBs is available on the NHS England website, where you can also check which ICB covers your GP.
Your GP will arrange for you to visit a local referral centre, which may offer you diagnostic tests, initial treatment, or refer you for NHS-funded IVF treatment at a specialised centre, such as Bourn Hall.
