Male and male fertility testing
We offer fertility health and wellbeing packages at our clinics in Cambridge, Norwich, Wickford, or at home. All testing packages include individual consultations with one of our experienced specialists to discuss through your results.
Our male couples fertility testing package includes semen analysis tests for you both, a free 30-minute consultation with our fertility nutritionist and a private consultation.
Semen (sperm) analysis is used to make an assessment of your fertility. Along with other clinical information, the results help to determine the likelihood of natural conception or, if necessary, what type of assisted conception treatment is appropriate for you.
The main measurements made in semen analysis tests include the concentration of sperm and how many are motile (moving as they should), progressive, and normal in shape. If one or more of these measurements is below the normal range, fertility may be impaired.
Semen analysis is a good indicator of your fertility, but it does have its limitations, as it does not test how the sperm will interact with eggs.
Semen samples are produced by masturbation in specially designated private rooms at one of our clinics. Ideally, the sample should be produced after sexual abstinence of at least two days, but no more than seven.
At home testing option
We also offer you the choice of conducting your semen analysis test at home with a test kit. Should you decide on this option, an analysis kit will be sent to you with full instructions on how to conduct the test and return it to the labs for analysis.*
View our at-home testing FAQs here.
*We use Mojo and The Doctors Laboratory to fulfil our at-home tests. When purchasing an at-home kit you authorise us to share your personal contact details.
Understanding your results
Your test results will be reviewed and discussed in your consultation with one of our fertility specialist doctors.
The outcome of your male fertility tests will give you an understanding of your sperm health and what this means for your fertility. It might be reassurance and peace of mind about your ability to conceive or may lead us to advise you about lifestyle changes that could increase your sperm health.
Following your consultation with one of our fertility specialist doctors to discuss your results, we may also recommend further tests, such as a Sperm DNA fragmentation test. If we identify that treatment or surgical intervention is needed, we will guide you through your options, with advice and support every step of the way.
