IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE: We have kept our clinics open as long as possible but now in line with government and regulatory advice, for the safety of our patients and our staff, we will stop initiating all new treatments and suspend current treatments. Although we appreciate this is distressing for our patients we are committed to play our part in promoting social distancing and reducing the burden on our NHS and sadly we will be temporarily suspending all face-to-face interactions as quickly as possible. For more information on what that means for you, please visit our website: https://moredetails.uk/covid-19 We know the coming days and weeks will be filled with uncertainty and we want to help support you as best we can – our helpline email@example.com is staffed by members of our patient services and nursing teams and our normal counselling services will remain available by telephone or secure virtual platforms. We have been helping to create families for 40 years and we are confident our mission will continue once the current crisis has passed. When the time is right, we look forward to welcoming you back into our clinics. Take care of yourselves, your loved ones and your communities.
To celebrate Mother's Day, we are sharing Laura's story with you. ⭐️ Laura and her husband Matt’s fertility journey began six years ago after they got married and started trying for a baby. When Laura still hadn’t got pregnant after a year she and Matt sought advice from their GP and were referred immediately to the local hospital for tests. “At the consultation we were both completely stunned,” recalls Laura. “We hadn’t thought for a moment that there was going to be a problem with Matt’s sperm. The results were pretty bad, and it came as a shock. Laura and Matt were referred for NHS-funded IVF treatment and chose our Clinic in Cambridge. They were treated using IVF and ICSI – stimulating Laura’s ovaries with medication so that she would produce many mature eggs at the same time and then injecting selected high quality sperm from Matt directly in to each egg to form an embryo. Elle was born following the couple’s third cycle and this also produced other good quality embryos that have been frozen for future treatment. Read more here: http://bit.ly/393et5R
We thought we'd share another inspiring story with you to bring some positivity to your day! ⭐️ After years of unexplained fertility problems, Michelle and Andrew chose to go to our Wymondham clinic for their treatment and became parents to baby Arthur in May 2019. Michelle said: “I had dreamed about the moment of my baby arriving for so long I cannot describe how I felt when Arthur was born, it was an instant feeling of love to hold him in my arms, just the most magical and precious feeling,” says Michelle. “Even now we look at him in awe and remind ourselves or how lucky we are to have him.” Read more here: http://bit.ly/2w2JCch
In 2014 we introduced time-lapse videography for embryo selection. For more than 40 years Bourn Hall has been making history. #wearefamily
In the latest 'your story' on our website, we spoke to Beth about her fertility journey and her advice to those of you still at the beginning of yours. "Being a mum is everything I thought it would be,” she says. “When you are in the thick of trying to have a baby events like Christmas and Mother’s Day can be difficult when they should be a happy time and so it is nice now to look forward to those dates and them not be a negative. “What I would say to anyone else starting out on their fertility journey is that we all think that we have life planned out and that we will meet someone, settle down and have a baby, but it doesn’t always work like that. Expect the unexpected and if you do need help with getting pregnant look after yourself. Don’t look too far in to the future, just focus on what you need to do to get to the next step.” Find out more about Beth's journey: https://moredetails.uk/bethstory
We are open! Our response to coronavirus (COVID-19): Please be assured that Bourn Hall Clinics are following all of the guidelines issued by the government as well as the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) regarding covid-19. At present we are continuing operations as normal and taking reasonable measures to prevent the spread of the virus. As such we are cancelling all unnecessary visitors to the clinic and non-clinical staff are being asked to work from home to minimise the footfall within the clinics. Patients undergoing treatment are our main priority and, unless showing symptoms of coronavirus, their treatment will continue. All patients due to attend the clinic are being contacted in advance of their consultations with the latest information and advice on what to do. We are also offering patients video consultations and internal meetings are being held on virtual platforms to avoid face to face contact. In addition to this we have stop notices at the entrances of all of our clinics asking people not to enter if they are displaying the known symptoms of the virus. In addition to our measures to limit the risk of the staff and patients contracting the virus we also have contingency measures in place should we have reduced staffing levels. As a group of clinics we have three separate facilities that we could transfer staff and patients to should the need arise, allowing normal scheduled operations to continue. We are doing everything we can to keep ourselves and our patients safe at this time. As I am sure you can appreciate this situation is ever changing and we are reviewing our measures constantly to ensure they are robust and sufficient. We will keep all patients updated as much as we can and as and when anything changes. If you have specific questions please contact your local clinic.
Thank you to Sarah for sharing her inspirational story - we hope this may help some of you who are at the start of your journey with us. “Today is my birthday. I awoke to my three lovely girls armed with breakfast, cards and homemade gifts. This is all I could ever want on any birthday; to be a mummy. 11 years ago, my husband and I were told having children would be a huge struggle and IVF ICSI was probably our only hope. The stress, worry and panic was immense. After our first IVF ICSI attempt in 2010, I became pregnant. Our daughter, Hannah-May was born in December 2010. I have never known love like it. A few years later, we tried again with two frozen embryos from our first attempt. Unfortunately, this failed and I became very low. I wanted a baby so badly and especially wanted Hannah-May to have a sibling to love and grow up with. When Hannah-May was four, we tried a fresh cycle which resulted in twin girls, Maria and Orla. It was so amazing to have a family all of a sudden when once I thought there wasn’t any hope. It’s not been easy, but we wouldn’t change it. Good luck all.”
