Delighted to hear good news from Nicci, she has had 'twins' several years apart.
She writes: "Dear All at Bourn Hall. Just to thank you once again for blessing us with our IVF baby girl no. 2. Isabelle was born a month early but is perfect in every way just like her big sister Gabriella. Isabelle was the result of a frozen embryo that was put into storage after We had Gabriella transferred back to me in May 2015. So created at the same time, but born 2.5 years apart. How amazing is science?! We can never thank you enough. 😊💗💗
Nicci had two miscarriages and three attempts at IVF before the couple had success with Gabriella. She told us how petrified she was having a scan.
“Every time I went to the toilet I was expecting to see blood. Every time I felt a twinge I thought ‘I’m losing the baby’. It didn’t help that I didn’t have any pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness.”
When they came for the 12-week scan, Nicci broke down crying, telling her husband she couldn’t face having the scan. “I was absolutely terrified – I froze,” Nicci says. “I had to take it step-by-step, with Laurie encouraging me all the way.
“During the scan I shut my eyes, I felt sick and my fists were clenched; it was terrible. The nurse went about her business and after a couple of minutes said, matter-of-factly, ‘Yes you’re pregnant; there are the arms, the legs and you can hear the baby’s heartbeat. Everything looks to be fine.’ To me it was just another step that we had come along the way. I still wouldn’t admit to myself that I was pregnant.”
Thank you Nicci for sharing your story - behind every Bourn Hall Baby there is a long journey. ... See MoreSee Less
