The only way for Santa’s sleigh is Wickford at Christmas

Santa is coming to the Wickford At Christmas Street Fair with a little help from Bourn Hall

This year’s hugely popular Wickford At Christmas Street Fair is taking place on Sunday 27th November in Wickford High Street from 12 to 5pm.

Santa will be leading the parade starting at the railway bridge at 12 noon and ending at his grotto outside the old Lloyds Bank – where he will spend the afternoon meeting families – including the growing number of Bourn Hall ones!

One baby is born every week following treatment at the Bourn Hall Essex clinic on London Road in Wickford.

Our first Wickford baby was Bear and he came to visit Father Christmas last year, with his mum and dad Leonie and Chris, who had IVF treatment at the clinic.

Leonie clearly remembers when she got her first ever positive pregnancy test: “I was so excited that I drove to Tesco in my pyjamas to buy more pregnancy tests just to double-check it was true!”

After years of trying to conceive the couple were told they would be eligible for NHS-funded treatment, which was successful the first time.

Leonie says: “It’s hard to put into words how I felt when Bear was born. It was something that we’d wanted for so long, that to actually have him arrive was just surreal. I think it took a couple of days for me to actually believe that he was here and not keep thinking it was a dream!

“Taking Bear to see Father Christmas was so lovely.”

This year Bourn Hall Essex’s Lead Nurse Becky Green will be meeting Bear’s cousin at Santa’s Grotto at about 12.00. Bourn Hall is sponsoring the Grotto to bring some cheer to families.
