When is extended culture to blastocyst recommended?

We recommend extended culture to the blastocyst stage for any patient who has four fertilised eggs or more. Extended culture is used to help select the best embryos from the group for your transfer. You can request to have extended culture even if you have fewer than four embryos; however, your chance of having blastocysts available at transfer may be reduced. Of course, you may decide not to try extended culture – instead, you could opt for a day-two or day-three transfer. Our embryologists are here to talk it through with you.
