Fertility nurse Bev Kimminau had always wanted to work for Bourn Hall, the world’s first IVF clinic, now her ambition has been realised. As Nursing Development Manager, she is tasked with establishing a new Fertility Health Suite for Bourn Hall based in Stamford, that will make it easier for people to access IVF in Lincolnshire and Peterborough.
Bev, from Lincoln, is a highly experienced fertility nurse consultant specialising in reproductive medicine and is a qualified sonographer in gynaecology and early pregnancy. She has held senior positions in fertility units and has commercial knowledge of setting up new types of health services.
Passionate about helping others with infertility
Bev has had a fertility journey of her own, experiencing secondary infertility after the birth of her son. Her daughter was conceived following IVF treatment overseen by John Webster, who played an important role in the original Bourn Hall team involved with the birth of the first ‘test-tube’ baby Louise Brown. This has made Bev passionate about helping others achieve their dream of a baby.
Support for your fertility journey
Couples struggling to conceive are often very anxious by the time they seek help. Bev says the new centre aims to create a holistic service that will support emotional wellbeing, improve fertility health, and increase the success of fertility treatment.
As lead nurse in a previous position, Bev was given the opportunity for research, and developed improved methods of patient care that boosted success rates.
She is very excited about bringing this knowledge together with the expertise of the medical team at Bourn Hall to offer personalised fertility testing and treatment in Stamford. This will include scans to fit in around busy work schedules, a comprehensive test service, and the support of the same nurse throughout the fertility journey.

Dr Thanos Papathanasiou, CEO and Medical Director of Bourn Hall, welcomes Bev’s drive and passion to the team.
“Bev has a wealth of skills and a deep understanding of the fertility journey. She brings fresh ideas and approaches, and we look forward to developing Bourn Hall’s new Fertility Health Suite with her.”
Bev concludes: “The fertility journey can be an emotional rollercoaster, but we are here to provide support every step of the way. Patients choosing to come to Stamford will have all their tests, appointments and scans here, with egg collection and embryo transfer at the original Cambridge clinic.”
