What happens if our treatment is not successful?
If your IVF cycle is not successful, we know it can feel devastating and hard to understand why. You will have a team of Bourn Hall specialists by your side on your fertility journey to help you if your treatment fails.
It is important that you take time to come to terms with it and to give your body a chance to recover.
When you’re ready you will have a follow up consultation with your doctor about your options for trying again and what your chance of conceiving might be if you do. Your consultant might suggest a different treatment or discuss any other options for maximising your chances of conceiving.
Our fertility counsellors and our Patient Support Group are also on hand to support you and you may find it helpful to talk your feelings through with one of our counsellors and others going through similar experiences.
It’s important to remember that although some couples are successful first time, it’s not unusual to need more than one treatment cycle to conceive.
