I am a specialist independent fertility counsellor working with patients from Bourn Hall and several assisted conception clinics in and around London. I provide counselling for people undergoing fertility treatment, including treatment with donor gametes, and the implications that this may have on their (and the resulting child’s) future.
I have vast experience with children who have been donor conceived and the implications of such knowledge on a child’s life. I have worked with the Donor Conception Network and other organisations who implement change in social policy in order to keep children safe.
I am an accredited member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) and was chair of this organisation until 2009. This involved keeping abreast of parliamentary issues in fertility care, and the implementation of new practices and policies, especially with regard to counselling in the field of fertility practice. I was also responsible for co-ordinating teaching and study seminars and worked closely with the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority (HFEA). I have written reviews on behalf of BICA and published many learned journals.
I also work as an independent psychotherapist dealing with relationship issues and work-related stress. I am an accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and belong to an international rapid response team for major trauma incidents.
As a stage registered nurse and midwife I have worked in the field of women’s health for the last 35 years including roles promoting safe sexual health and raising awareness of gender dysphoria.
