Dr Costas Panayotidis was born in the UK in 1973 and studied medicine at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, qualifying in 1997 and completing his GP training until 2000. During this period he carried out research into hypo fertility and intrauterine insemination and obtained a Master in Sciences (MSc) in Reproductive Science and his MD with distinction: Très Honorable.
In 2001 he returned to the UK where he completed his full training in obstetrics and gynaecology, obtaining his specialist UK certification in 2008. Following this he completed a clinical MSc in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy with the University of Surrey in 2011 and in 2017 an MSc in Advanced Gynaecological Ultrasound in Cardiff University with honours distinction. He worked as lead consultant in hypofertility in NHS hospitals before joining the Bourn Hall family in 2019.
He has published a number of academic papers and he is a very enthusiastic teacher participating in national and international educational events. He has been an elected office member of the British Society of Gynaecological Imaging (BSGI) since 2016. He is actively involved with the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). He particularly researched and proposed standards of ultrasound practice regarding Oocyte retrieval techniques, all incorporated in the 2019 ESHRE guidelines. He is active member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and of the British and European society of gynaecological endoscopy (BSGE, ESGE). He has been a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) since 2007 and is an active member of the British Fertility Society (BFS).
Costas says, “My vision is that patients should be treated as if they are part of our own family, their care and the attention to their individualised treatment should reach perfection”.
