Why become an egg donor?

Becoming an egg donor is one of the most selfless and generous things you can do. It’s a deeply rewarding experience that’s hard to put into words – you truly can’t imagine the difference it can make in somebody’s life.

However, there is a shortage of egg donors across the country, leaving many women with the emotional challenge of waiting anxiously to become parents when they need donor eggs.

By signing up to become an egg donor, you’ll be giving someone the priceless gift of a chance to start or extend their family – a feeling that words simply can’t capture.

Benefits of donating your eggs

Donating your eggs is a generous and meaningful act that offers more than just the joy of helping bring new life into the world.

By choosing to become an egg donor with us, you will also gain access to a range of benefits and programmes designed to help you learn more about your own fertility. These include:

  • A full Fertility Health + Wellbeing assessment – as part of the egg donation process, our specialist team will monitor your fertility health, providing expert-level insights into your own fertility.
  • Financial compensation – it’s illegal to be paid to donate your eggs in the UK, but we will provide you with compensation of up to £985 to cover any expenses incurred during each egg donation cycle. This helps ensure your selfless act won’t leave you out of pocket.
  • Expert counselling – access to counselling throughout the egg donation process, giving you the space to ask questions, address concerns and ensure you fully understand the emotional aspects of egg donation.
  • Our egg sharer programmes – if you need in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment yourself and meet the criteria to become an egg donor, we can offer you a heavily discounted IVF treatment package in exchange.
Egg donation: how the process works

If you’d like to become an egg donor, there are a number of steps in the process. Here’s what to expect:

  • Step 1 – Arrange an appointment

Get in touch with our team to schedule an appointment. During this meeting, we’ll walk you through the process, answer any questions you may have and gather some personal information.

  • Step 2 – Give your consent

If you decide to move forward, we’ll need your written consent to proceed. However, you can change your mind at any time before your eggs are used in someone else’s fertility treatment.

  • Step 3 – Initial fertility screening and health tests

Our team will conduct various medical assessments, blood tests and ultrasounds to ensure you’re a suitable candidate for egg donation. At this stage, we’ll also offer you counselling to support you through the process.

  • Step 4 – Start the IVF process

Once you’re confirmed as a suitable candidate, you’ll begin hormone injections to stimulate egg production. Throughout this phase, you’ll be regularly monitored with blood tests and ultrasounds.

  • Step 5 – Egg retrieval and collection

When your eggs are fully matured, a fertility specialist will collect them using a fine needle. This will be done under sedation or general anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel any pain during this minor surgical procedure.

  • Step 6 – Aftercare, recovery and counselling

Following your procedure, we’ll check in on you during your recovery. If needed, we’ll provide pain relief and continue to offer emotional support through counselling.
